Look Younger in Makeup!

First and foremost: HYDRATE!

Makeup is 50% skin, so let's start there.

Before applying any make up, applying a great moisturizer and sunscreen is imperative.

Massage your moisturizer on. It awakens the complexion and brings your skin to life.

Hint: don't be afraid of oils! A rich argan oil, for instance, is loaded with anti-aging and reparative benefits. My personal fav is from Skin Owl... Lavender infused argan oil to be exact ;)

Choose a liquid or cream foundation. Embrace dewey!

All said, I want you throw out that full coverage cake foundation!

Put on your foundation directly after hydrating while your skin is moist. Your foundation will blend in seamlessly.

Apply your foundation:

    1) with a damp sponge or

    2) with a wide foundation brush

Be sure to use half of the amount of product that you would normally use. We tend to overdo our coverage.

Choose a golden based shade that warms the complexion and balances out any redness (W3LL PEOPLE Narcissist Stick Foundation #3 -light-medium or 5 - medium.

**If you must set with a powder, choose a sheer translucent or clear powder (W3LL PEOPLE Realist X). Lightly dust only where shine is prevalent. Ask yourself: "Where am I the shiniest 1 hour after I apply my make-up?" -there's your spot!

Wisely Conceal:

Choose a soft, creamy concealer with a touch of pink in the shade. This is the one part of the face where the 'golden rule' does not apply.

A concealer with a pink undertone will battle the blues! It will cleverly conceal the darkness around the eyes.

Do not forget to apply your concealer yo your upper lid!

This will brighten and open up your eyes instantly.

Don't be afraid of shimmer!

Who does not want to glow?!

It's all about strategy here.

Remember that horrible saggy word? Here is where we are going to go to battle (and win).

    •    Purchase a sheer highlighter (W3LL PEOPLE Bio Brightener Stick). Apply it to the round of the cheekbone, the bridge of the nose, and on your brow bone for the perfect candlelit glow. A great trick to create supple lips, is to apply a very thin layer of your highlighter onto the outer edge of the lips prior to applying a neutral lipstick.

    •    You don't have to say goodbye to frosted or shimmery eye shadows! A dab on the apple of the eye can create a brighter, more prominent eyelid. Choose light neutral shades that compliment your skin tone. Remember: light brings features out / dark shades bring features inward.

Stay away from dark brows!

Choose a brow color that is 2 shades softer than your hair color. If you are a silver fox, a cool taupe shade works best.

To keep the effect soft focused, I suggest a matte brow powder. A powder will go on seamlessly. Cream or pencil brow products can easily get clumpy and unevenly applied making blending a nightmare!

**Brow hint: focus application on the inner upper corner of the brow moving gently outward toward the arch. This will create a lift to the brow. Do not double dip the brush to blend in the body of the brow. Use what product is left on the brush.

Define the eyes.

Don't be afraid of eyeliner.

The solution is in the technique. Keep the eyeliner tight to the lash-line, creating a thin lash and lid defining effect.

Restrict your liner to the upper lid.

No need to fear the blackest of liners if you put this to practice!

**Double the bright eyed effects by using a lash curler.

Use Cream Blush! (W3LL PEOPLE Universalist 4 is a must!)

Ok. We lose color as we age.

A creamy, hydrating blush will enliven and rejuvenate any cheek!

Warm your blush onto your complexion using your fingertips, starting two fingers from the nose, blending towards your ear.

Choose a timeless warm peachy/rose shade.

Make Up in Minutes.

Faster. Faster. Faster. 3 words that define our morning state of mind.

If the snooze button has become your morning practice, I’m here to help.

Below are some great tips to help you boost of your morning, and your look!

1. De-Clutter and De-Tox your make up bag

Throw away anything you haven’t worn in 6 months. The less that you have to dig through, the quicker you can get to the task at hand!

2. Give your makeup bag some ‘natural’ love.

Natural products are not only better for you, they are efficient and empowering. Empowering because you’ve made a happier choice - Efficient because they often serve more than one purpose.

3. Target your beauty.

Get your daily look down! If you are all about your eyes, master your eye make up. If lipstick is your love, keep the attention on your pout and lighten up an the eyes. Bottom line: Choose your beauty weapon!

4. You are a master multi-tasker. Expect the same of your makeup.

Put your makeup and skincare to work. Less is actually more, especially when you make choices for your make up bag that suit more than one of your beauty needs.

An antioxidant rich multi-tasking cream color stick can easily enliven your eyes, your cheeks AND your lips. Choose soft, neutral shades that can’t be overdone. Ditch the brush and apply using fingertips!

In a pinch for time? Throw it in your purse and apply on the go.

5. Smart coverage.

Finding the right foundation stick is genius - especially if it has skin loving benefits. Use it to double as a healing and nourishing concealer stick. Apply with your fingertips or a foundation brush to cover imperfections. Ingredients to look for: aloe, green tea and omega rich oils such as sunflower seed oil.

6. Wake up your gaze with mascara.

Slow down and use a gentle hand when applying your mascara, otherwise you will get more mascara on your eyelid than on your lash! We don't want it to look as though you threw your mascara on during your bumpy cab ride to work!

NYFW FALL 2014

New York Fashion Week usually means that models are caked in chemical-laden cosmetic, but I had the privilege of creating some clean, truly bespoke looks for designers who are doing big things in the realm of sustainable and luxurious fashion. Want a peek at the action? Check out my video redux to see what it's really like behind-the-scenes of New York's most fashion-forward week.

My W3LL PEOPLE team and I joined forces with fellow green warriors like Mordechai Alvow, founder of Yarok Haircare, to create stunning looks that are as kind to the models as they are the planet. Read more to find out how to replicate these fresh faces.

The Show: LITKE

Behind the Brand: LITKE's designs blend classic minimalism and eccentric tailoring with a sense of excitement, unique, globally-inspired details, and unorthodox shapes in sustainable materials, making for clothes that are both innovative and timeless.

The Collection: "The inspiration for SS15 was The Happy Island (1972) by Superstudio, an idyllic imaginary world of blue sky and jump-ropes, all superimposed onto an endlessly perfect grid plane.” - LITKE

The Runway Look: I created a glowing, transparent, undeniably feminine look that echoed the energetic and playful designs of the LITKE SS15 collection. Complexions were kept clean, ethereal, and luminous.

Get the Look: Using your fingers, dab Universalist ColorStick 5 gently on lips and cheeks, warming the color in to the skin to create a blended sheer stain that mimics a youthful flush. Finish the look with a dusting of Bio Brightener Powder to set and illuminate and a slick of Bio Extreme Lipgloss in Clear Natural for juicy sheen.

The Show: Christina Yi

Behind the Brand: Christina Yi's designs are textural, sumptuous, and uniquely blend the fantastical with the austere, the embellished with the simplistic.

The Collection: Inspired by archaeological response to the discovery of Egyptian pyramids in the 1900's, The Bone Collector SS15 collection resurrects the power of organic beauty and symbology and merges it effortlessly with a contemporary and structured look.

The Runway Look: Shirley created a mesmerizing ‘hunting' gaze on the eyes of both the male and female models. Complexions had a satin, neutral, and contoured finish. The eyes were heavily smoked out on the bottom only for added focus and intensity. Winged liner kicked out past the edge of the top lash line and touch of gold was added to the inner eye, near the tear duct. The look was inspired by the Egyptian Eye of Horus, which signifies power and opulence.

Get the Look: This look can be more sparingly emulated to create a captivating everyday look. With a precision brush, like our Tapered Angle Eye Brush, smudge Elitist Mineral Shadow in 825 at the bottom lash line and kick out slightly and with less intensity beyond the lash line. Line the entire eye with our award-winning Hypnotist Black Eyeliner and blend over slightly with your brush. Finish the look with a dab of Elitist Mineral Shadow in 812 and 83 blended together near the tear duct to create an ethereal accent.
